Air Meter monitors traffic in background. Configurable alerts are given in real-time, even when the app is not running. The detail view also lists the last location where traffic is recorded.
When, optional, data plan details are entered, Air Meter will reset automatically. Air meter also keeps track of your data usage history.
You can also view battery state and free space left on device.

For background monitoring Air Meter uses the Apple recommended location services, whenever possible, which have a negligible impact on battery life. If every second of battery life counts, geo-tagging (and thus background operation) can be turned off.
